BURTON ON THE WOLDS, COTES AND PRESTWOLD PARISH COUNCIL

PRESS RELEASE from the meeting of the Parish Council on 5th February 2019

P/19/0041/2 LAND OFF MELTON ROAD, BURTON ON THE WOLDS PC/PUBLIC MEETING TUE 12th FEB 2019

Residents are invited to a Parish Council meeting at 7.00 p.m. on Tuesday 12th February 2019 at the Village Hall, Burton on the Wolds, to discuss the above planning application. You can view this application at: https://www.charnwood.gov.uk/pages/viewing_or_commenting_on_planning_applications

NESTING BIRDS AND WORKS CARRIED OUT ON TREES AND HEDGES

Residents are reminded that it is an offence under Section 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981 (as amended by the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000), to damage or destroy the nest of any wild bird in use, or being built. The nesting season is generally from 1st March to 31st July when any major work to trees or hedges should be avoided. If anything has to be done, it is essential that extensive checks are carried out before work is started. It would be an intentional act to cut down trees or hedges or to pull ivy (a common nesting site) from trees if a nest is present. It is not a defence to not look and plead ignorance. All reputable tree surgeons are fully aware of these laws, so please ensure that you use professional.

In the interim, the Parish Council who are currently Custodian Trustees will also become Managing Trustees until a new committee can be formed. If you are interested in voluntary a role on this committee, please contact the Clerk for further details.
