PRESS RELEASE from the meeting of the Parish Council on 2nd April 2019

All residents are invited to attend the Annual Parish meeting which will take place at 7.00 p.m. on Tuesday 14th May 2018 at the Village Hall, Burton on the Wolds. The Annual Parish meeting is a meeting of all electors for the Parish. It is NOT a meeting of the Parish Council and anyone may attend however, only registered electors of Burton on the Wolds, Cotes & Prestwold Parish may speak and vote. Registered electors may ask questions of the Council and may also make suggestions and comment on anything pertinent to the residents of the Parish.

Cllr Boker reported that the appeal on Burton Lane, Wymeswold has been dismissed. The reasons given by the Inspector could have a significant impact on subsequent applications in the surrounding area including Burton on the Wolds, Cotes and Prestwold. The Conclusion from the Inspector is as follows:

40. However, in this case the proposal would result in significant harm to the character and appearance of the area and to the setting of a designated heritage asset. Whilst acknowledging the benefits arising from the development, even if I were to conclude there is a shortfall in the 5YHLS, the adverse impacts of granting permission would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits.

41. Thus, for the reasons given above and having considered all other matters raised, the appeal is dismissed.

We regularly get reports of dog fouling on the pavement, playing field, plantation etc. and volunteers have the unpleasant job of clearing it up. Your Parish Council is determined to bring to account those responsible for the problem so that the Borough Council can initiate legal proceedings. Responsible dog owners and other residents are encouraged to report anyone not clearing up after their dog to Charnwood Borough Council on 01509 634564 or online via www.charnwood.gov.uk/dogfoulingfaq.

If you are in control of a dog, you are fully responsible. PLEASE, BAG IT AND BIN IT!

During the month of February 2019 in Burton on the Wolds there have been 1 x reported Criminal Damage and 1 x reported Theft. Cotes had no reported crime and Prestwold had 1 x reported Theft. The March Police report was not available at the time of the meeting.

Due to elections, the Annual Parish Meeting will take place on TUESDAY 14th MAY 2019 at 7.00 p.m. followed immediately by the Annual Meeting of the Parish Council at 7.30 p.m.
