2020 11 03 Parish Council VIRTUAL meeting via Zoom PRESS RELEASE

In October, Cllr Cooper and the Parish Heritage Warden attended three virtual conferences organised by Leicestershire County Council and delivered by John Clarkson, Head of Conservation for Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust. Under the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act 2006, every public body, including Town and Parish Councils, has a duty to conserve biodiversity. The sessions covered: What is biodiversity and why is it important; What a Parish Council can do for biodiversity; Commenting on planning applications; Wildlife recording. Knowing what's there, then managing, enhancing and protecting what's there, as this is the key to a diverse and sustainable natural environment in Leicestershire.

The Parish Council will consider what it can do and how residents can become more involved. A comprehensive list of useful contacts and references were made available at the conference and can be sent to parish residents upon request.

PSCO Jade Martin sent the following report: During the month of October 2020 Burton on the Wolds had 1 x Assault reported, this was a road rage type incident, 1 x Vehicle Crime whereby a vehicle has been entered, nothing taken and 1 x Burglary residential whereby entry has been gained via a front window and vehicles/property have been taken. There were no recorded crimes in Cotes or Prestwold. These figures do not include private domestic related incidents or harassments.

The next Parish Council meeting will take place virtually on Tuesday 1st December 2020 at 7.30 p.m. unless advised otherwise. There is a 15 minute section at each Parish Council meeting where you are welcome to speak if you have any questions or comments.
